East Bengal sign Songpu Singsit from Neroca FC

Songpu Singsit has agreed to join SC East Bengal from Neroca FC. The paperwork is still being processed, but the deal is anticipated to be finalised soon.

Chennaiyin FC made a strong offer for Songpu Singsit, but the transfer fell through. SC East Bengal has now entered the negotiations and is anticipated to conclude Songpu Singsit's signature shortly.

Last season, the 22-year-old excelled with Neroca in the I League, but his team ended second from bottom, ahead of the Indian Arrows. They escaped relegation this season, thanks to the AIFF's decision to forego demotion owing to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Songpu Singsit played in 12 games for Neroca, scoring three goals and assisting on three others. He usually played on the left flank and was one of the league's greatest attackers, as evidenced by his statistics. Every 90 minutes, the Manipur player dribbled 5.45 times, made 1.54 progressive runs, and completed at least 0.59 crucial passes. In addition, he generated a total of 13 scoring chances in 12 games.

The teenager received the Fan's Emerging Player title in the I-League last season as a response of his outstanding performances.

Songpu formerly played for Muvanlai Athletics Sports Club before signing a three-year contract with Neroca FC last year. Because the player is now under contract with Neroca FC, the club requested a transfer fee when Chennaiyin approached them.

SC East Bengal has been aggressively attempting to acquire excellent players to play for them next season despite entering the transfer market at the eleventh hour. They've already arranged loan deals for Jackichand Singh and Amarjit Singh Kiyam, as well as Sourav Das and Ankit Mukherjee. East Bengal will have a hectic few hours ahead of them, with the transfer window shutting at midnight today.
